Based in Douglas County, Minnesota, we exist as a nonprofit, Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing in the community and to make simple, decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

Each gift helps a family in need of decent shelter. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law and will be acknowledged with a letter you may use for those purposes. We take seriously our responsibility to contributors, to those counting on our help to be wise stewards of funds entrusted to us.

Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity is a great way to learn new skills and give back to the community. If you would like to help, please fill out our Volunteer Registration Form (PDF) along with a release waiver and submit it via fax or mail. Habitat Elects New Board Members & Officers

Habitat for Humanity of Douglas County President Steve Hellermann reports the election of two new board members: Irene Vagle and Marie Anderson. The board also elected officers: Steve Hellermann, President; Jan Finazzo, Vice President; Chris Worley, Treasurer; Janna Lindoo, Secretary; and John Beem, Past President. Other board members include: Joyce Hansen, John Loken, Terry Quist, Gordon Vander Helm and Pete Wood. Vern Anderson, Co-Founder and CEO of Douglas Machine, Inc. installed the new directors and officers at their organizational meeting held on July 20, 2010.

As the Douglas County area continues to grow, securing land for Douglas County Habitat home projects becomes more challenging. If you are aware of a parcel of land in the area that may be available, we’d like to talk to you! Habitat for Humanity of Douglas County purchases land at appraised fair value, and always welcomes land donated to the cause of eliminating poverty housing. If you know of property that may be available, or if you would like to speak to us about the sale of your property, please contact us. Planned Giving

Many of our partners support Habitat through planned gifts, which may qualify for significant tax deductions. Giving options include bequests, charitable gift annuities, and charitable remainder trusts. Stock and Bond Gifts

A charitable gift of stocks or bonds provides an opportunity for tax savings while generously sharing with others. A gift of stock owned for more than one year entitles you to a charitable deduction for the full market value at the time the gift is made.
