Based in Douglas County, Minnesota, we exist as a nonprofit, Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing in the community and to make simple, decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

Each gift helps a family in need of decent shelter. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law and will be acknowledged with a letter you may use for those purposes. We take seriously our responsibility to contributors, to those counting on our help to be wise stewards of funds entrusted to us.

Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity is a great way to learn new skills and give back to the community. Habitat Elects New Board Members & Officers

Habitat for Humanity of Douglas County President Steve Hellermann reports the election of two new board members: Irene Vagle and Marie Anderson. The board also elected officers: Steve Hellermann, President; Jan Finazzo, Vice President; Chris Worley, Treasurer; Janna Lindoo, Secretary; and John Beem, Past President. Other board members include: Joyce Hansen, John Loken, Terry Quist, Gordon Vander Helm and Pete Wood. Vern Anderson, Co-Founder and CEO of Douglas Machine, Inc. installed the new directors and officers at their organizational meeting held on July 20, 2010.

Building a better world takes more than good intentions. It takes hard work, land, and money. One of our biggest challenges today is finding land to build on in Douglas County, where we’re often competing for available properties with for-profit builders in a market where home prices just keep going up. Another challenge is finding individuals, organizations and corporations to fund the construction of future Habitat homes.

Our partners are committed to making a difference in their community by investing time, energy, and financial resources to meet the needs of very-low and low income families throughout Douglas County. The need for affordable housing in Douglas County is continuing to grow. If you are able to make a substantial donation, please call us at (320) 762-4255 to discuss the giving options available. Thank you for considering some of our partnership opportunities outlined below:

Full House Partner – A business, foundation, or individual benefactor who covers the full construction cost of a home and hands the keys to the new owner at the dedication ceremony.
House Co-Partner – Pays half of the construction cost of the home and shares the honor of handing over the keys with one other organization.
Community Partner – One of several businesses, organizations, or individuals who make a substantial contribution toward the cost of a home and share signage and recognition at the dedication ceremony.
Corporate Team Builder Sponsor – Corporate Team Builders provide volunteers and a monetary donation to reserve a day for team-building on a Habitat worksite. The Team Builder suggested donation is $100 per volunteer.
Event Sponsor – 2009 Hard Hat Breakfast 2009_Hard_Hat_Breakfast_Sponsors.pdf, Habitat for Humanity Motorcycle & Bicycle Ride (all ages welcome).
