Based in Douglas County, Minnesota, we exist as a nonprofit, Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing in the community and to make simple, decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

Each gift helps a family in need of decent shelter. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law and will be acknowledged with a letter you may use for those purposes. We take seriously our responsibility to contributors, to those counting on our help to be wise stewards of funds entrusted to us.

Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity is a great way to learn new skills and give back to the community. Current Project

The first building site in 2010, located at 909 Oak Street in Alexandria, is ready for construction to begin in early Spring. Our affiliate qualified for another Thrivent Builds Home Award, and will receive 65% of the house costs: a total of $82,092 to support the 25 Habitat for Humanity home in Douglas County. Habitat has purchased four lots that are side-by-side. Our newest partner family Denise Hagen, and her mentors John and Joan Huseth are already working together to prepare for construction and move-in.
